Local Alternatives to Valentine's Day Gift Giving

The BIG day is just one week away.

CSA SummerShare.jpeg

Chocolates and roses and lavish dinners. Valentine's Day is anything but relaxing and extravagant for anyone in the floral industry. That's why this year, we decided to commit to supporting small businesses and self-care rather than import flowers and endure unnecessary stress.

We are so grateful for the inquiries we have received about Valentine’s Day orders, and of course we still think flowers are a great way to show your love and appreciation. Our CSA Flower Subscriptions are a wonderful way to keep that love going throughout the entire year. We offer four unique subscriptions with two convenient Ohio and WV pick-up locations. Choose our "Gift a share" option at checkout and we will email you a gift certificate to present on Valentine’s Day.

If you are looking for something special, here are our top recommendations from our favorite small businesses.

Self-care ideas we LOVE

Self-care practices can be a challenge to maintain in our fast-paced, technology-driven world. They certainly are for me. I find myself often making time for everyone and everything else except me. (Which is the main reason we are taking a pause on hand-tied bouquets this Valentine’s Day).

Here are several gift ideas to pamper the one you love, or even treat yourSELF.

I met Rebecca the owner of Blip and Branch at the Marietta Marketplace this summer and fell in love with her and her products. She sells handmade soaps and bath bombs that are my newest bath soaking addiction. Her social media pages and Etsy store are beautifully curated and make me happy just looking at the photos.

If you have never met Cindy or Mandy, the mother-daughter business duo behind Heartmade Candle Co. you are missing out. Their passion for quality candles is infectious and I promise you won’t be able to buy just one. My new favorite scent is Sweet Tobacco. Go check them out and tell us your favorite.

I have been able to meet so many amazing business owners because of my Wildroot journey and Lyndsey from Perfectly Pink is no exception. Perfectly Pink was a bath and body dream that started in Lyndsey’s kitchen. Now Lyndsey has created a booming business making products that I swear magically make me shave my legs more. My personal favorite is the Soothing Shaving Butter. She even has gift ideas for HIM - be sure to checkout her website.

Self-care for me has to include slowing down because most of my days are spent checking things off the to-do list. I feel most recharged after I can quiet my racing mind. Have you ever wanted to try a gentle yoga class or maybe a Life Coaching or Reflexology session? If so, you need to meet Stephanie (aka my mom), owner of Reflection Life Studio. She will hold space and allow the yoga mat to be a place of self inquiry, invite the mind to rest, the heart to relax and the body to rebalance and rejuvenate.

I think we can all relate to standing in front of our closets full of clothes and saying to ourself "I literally have nothing to wear!". This is where Courtney from Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0 comes to the rescue. Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0 is not only an inspiring fashion blog, but Courtney offers her stylist expertise through many other fun services. She has you covered in the fashion world from closet detoxing to a full makeover. Follow along her social media accounts and her website as she shows you how incorporate pieces from local boutiques into your wardrobe.

Keep you eye out on our Wildroot Instagram and Facebook pages next week for our self-care giveaway. We will be giving one lucky winner something from each of these lovely businesses. Thank YOU for your continued support of our farm.

Best,

Lyndsay
